After Saul returned from fighting the Philistines, he chose 3,000
elite troops from Israel and went in search of David.
Since he was tired he went into a cave to relieve himself. But it
happened, David and his men were hiding farther back in that same cave!
David’s men whispered that it was his opportunity and the LORD was
telling to do as he wishes with his enemies.
So David crept forward and cut off a piece of the hem of Saul’s
robe.
But then David’s conscience began bothering him.
He said to his men, I shouldn’t attack the LORD’s anointed one, for
the LORD himself has chosen him.
So David restrained his men and did not let them kill Saul.
To
ponder:
Proverbs 24:15 says,
Don’t wait in ambush at the home of the godly, and don’t raid the house where
the godly live.
We dare not speak or attack God's chosen ones.
Though David was surrounded by people who were encouraging him to
attack, he chose not to touch God's anointed one.
How are we today? Are we quick in condemning people? Or are we
respecting and valuing God's chosen ones in our life.
