LORD declared to David through
prophet Nathan that He will build a house for David and make a dynasty of kings!
So after him God promised to raise
up one of his descendants, and make his kingdom strong. That he can
build a temple and God promised to secure his royal throne forever.
God himself will be his father,
and he will be His son. If he sins, God will correct and discipline
him with the rod, like any father would do.
But His favor will not be taken
from him as it was taken from Saul.
David's house and kingdom will
continue before God for all time, and his throne will be secure forever. (2 Samuel 7:11-17 )
To ponder:
It is a privilege to be disciplined
by God, since He only disciplines those He loves.
God was pleased with David, so
He assured not to remove His favor from him, but rather even use the rod to
correct Him and bring him to the fold.
We all are happy to receive blessing
from God, but it's very difficult when He corrects.
How many of us can say today along
with David... It was good that I was afflicted.. I learned your precepts...
Both Saul and David was 30 yrs old
when they become the king.
Saul reigned for 42 years and
David ruled for 40 years.
But God rejected Saul as king
because he disobeyed God.
God wanted to keep him as an example
for all the future kings.
Saul tried to justify himself, But
when David sinned he repented for it.
